Accurate measurements are vital to ensure your new wardrobes fit perfectly. Fortunately, obtaining accurate measurements is easy if you follow the steps outlined in this guide.
Requirements:
- Tape measure
- Pen / pencil
- Measure form (PDF download)
- Preferable: roofing square (A roofing square will allow you to determine if you have out of square walls. You can usually buy one from your local hardware store for a reasonable price).

Step 1: Measure the width of the back wall
When measuring the width of the back wall, please take the measurement at approximately 2000mm (2 metres) up from the floor. The best way to get accurate measurements is to follow these steps:
- From one side, measure out to 1000mm (1 metre) and make a small mark with your pen / pencil;
- Next, from the opposite side, meausre the distance to the 1000mm mark;
- By adding these two measurements together, you will get a very accurate width measurement.
Step 2: Measure the depth of the opening
Measure both the left hand and right hand depths. Write down the measurements on the form.
Spacemaker shelving is 420mm deep.
Step 3: Measure any side returns (if applicable)
It is important that we know the measurements of side returns, as this may affect the placement of drawers;
Please provide the inside measurements, as shown in the diagram.
Step 5: Measure door height
Measure the height of the existing door opening.
We need to know the door height, as this will determine the depth of the top shelft.
